KATONAH YOGA® – 180 hrs TEACHER TRAINING
Time & Location
About the Event
Katonah Yoga® was founded by Nevine Michaan, and is a Hatha yoga practice refined over forty years, blended with Taoist theory, geometry, pranayama and meditation. For more information, please visit www.katonahyoga.com.
This deep dive into Katonah Yoga® asana, pranayama and theory is the first of its kind in Europe. Over the course of 5 months, participants will have the opportunity to hear and embody Katonah® theory from 5 different teachers.
Designed to integrate with layered complexity, the training will consist of several different modules. All modules can be taken individually. If taken collectively, they will then count 180 hours towards the Katonah Yoga® Independent Teacher Program.
Elisa's workshop is the second part in the 180 hours Katonah yoga teacher training. Katonah Yoga theory gives us unique ways to align the body in asanas, using the body’s own measurements and geometry. Adjustments and assisting, learning how to lead one another into the asana, gives us greater knowledge about the pose itself. For both the teacher and the student adjustments open up new paths to understanding. It’s like navigating someone into a place where they’ve never been before. A key element of this 30h intensive training will be learning how to carefully align the asana to make your own practice more stable. We will focus on the adjustments, as well as using different props in the practice. Blocks, quick release-belts, blankets, chairs, sticks, bolsters and tennis balls will all be used in new ways, combining what you already know with the new material to make the practice your own.
Aligning and adjusting, as well as the use of props, will all build up to a foundation on which you can create your own sequence and home practice. Working on the mat will become more than doing poses, it becomes a place for us to address the patterns in our lives through the patterns in our bodies. Only by becoming conscious of these patterns is it possible to change them. The insight can only come through conscious repetitions. The goal of the teacher training is to build a new habit, to repeat a pose in yoga refining it each time, so it installs new and improved patterns in our physical and psychological lives. Learning how to teach home practices will enable sharing these insights to new students going forward.
The workshop will be held in English. It is also possible to sign up only for one workshop and not the entire teacher training. One workshop separately will cost 950€/850€ earlybird (sign up by 28th of November, 2019). More information and registrations through http://academie.tigre-yoga.com/product/katonah-yoga-workshop-2/ .
